Confident Competence in 2025: A Year of Growth and Innovation

Introduction

In March, we officially introduced Confident Competence into the world.

Alongside the launch of our new website and Competency App, we unveiled our Platform to hundreds of Professionals at the Birmingham Care Show. This marked a major milestone in our mission, which is to bring Competency to the fore front of Health and Social Care Teams across the UK.

But before we dive into what we have achieved so far, let’s start with the most important question.

What is Confident Competence?

Confident Competence is a Digital Competency Management Platform designed specifically for the Health and Social Care Sector. It enables Organisations to measure, evidence, and maintain Staff competence. All via a Practical Based Platform.

The platform has a growing library of over 100 customisable competencies, created by experienced Health and Social Care Professionals. This removes the burden of building competency frameworks from scratch, saving time while ensuring regulatory alignment.

Our Mission

Confident Competence was founded by Paul Blane, whose extensive experience in Health and Social Care Training highlighted a recurring challenge: competency frameworks that were inconsistent, outdated, or disconnected from real-world practice.

“When I designed Confident Competence, I wanted to give everybody in the Sector the opportunity to get their hands on a suite of competencies that align to Law, Legislation and Regulation.” — Paul Blane, Social Care and Health Care Trainer, CEO, Confident Competence

This vision continues to drive the platform’s development — ensuring competency assessment is practical, meaningful, and inspection-ready.

Key Successes

Within our first year, we have celebrated some incredible milestones. A large number of Care Organisations have successfully onboarded Confident Competence, including Abbey Healthcare, Pathways, Love and Care and many others.

We were also pleased to appear on the front page of Caring UK, reflecting the growing recognition of Confident Competence across the Sector.

Care shows and Roadshows Attended

From making our first non-pilot sale on our debut at Birmingham Care show to chairing an insightful industry panel, the past year has been packed with meaningful conversations and valuable connections.

We attended:

· The Birmingham Care Show

· The London Care Show

· Care Roadshows

· The Care Innovation Summit

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who visited our stand, booked a demo, and expressed their internal challenges with us.

Webinars, Partnerships, and Sector Collaboration

Our Expert Team has been equally busy beyond events. This year, we delivered multiple webinars in collaboration with leading Organisations such as Care Research and Fulcrum Care.

We also introduced tailored support packages for Care Providers, including the Fulcrum Bronze Package, designed to strengthen inspection readiness and competency management while remaining cost-effective.

The team also engaged with plenty of sector-wide networking events, discussing competency, compliance, and the emerging trends shaping Health and Social Care.

Platform Growth and Major System Updates

Confident Competence continues to evolve in line with the needs of modern Care Teams. This year, we were proud to deliver a number of key developments to support this mission.

Our round up of system updates include:

· Offline Capability, supporting Assessors and Teams on the move

· Flexible Validity Period Settings

· Smarter Tracking and Reporting

· Enhanced User Data Handling

These enhancements are designed to make competency management a seamless part of everyday practice. Review competence anytime, anywhere. Click here to find out more.

Looking Ahead

If you missed us this year, don’t worry — this is just the beginning.

We have plenty of Events planned, new Partnerships to announce, and an expanding Office Team working tirelessly behind the scenes. Our Partnership with Fulcrum Care continues to strengthen our support for the sector, and further developments will be revealed in the incoming year.
